I snapped this photo just before we launched in the early morning and the sea was very calm, making it very easy to get past the waves for a quiet run around south Maui. We found sea turtles getting their “breakfast” along with snorkelers (who are watching the sea turtles!). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat makes the outrigger canoe different from others is the use of the ‘ama’ or float that stabilizes the canoe. A fun thing I learned during one tour was that there is a bit of fabric between the two arms that secures the float to the main body - this forms a little ‘seat’, which the locals call “The Princess Seat”.
